Matching the bassinet height to your bed

Bedside mode only works when the two sleeping surfaces meet. Here is how we measure, in about two minutes, with a tape and no guesswork.

Matching the bassinet height to your bed
  1. Measure the top of your mattress

From the floor to the top of the mattress, at the side where the bassinet will go. Write it down.

  2. Compare to the three settings

BCOL heights are 17.7, 18.5 and 19.3 inches. Choose the one that leaves the bassinet surface level with, or just a touch below, your mattress top.

  3. Click both sides

Press the height buttons on both legs and make sure each side clicks into the same position.

  4. Tall bed?

If your mattress sits higher than the top setting, use the bassinet as a standalone sleeper right beside the bed rather than in bedside mode. One parent in our reviews keeps theirs at the foot of a tall bed for exactly this reason.

  5. Sofa days

The lowest setting lines up with most sofas, which is handy for daytime naps next to you in the living room.

  6. Incline only when you need it

The incline setting is for settling after a feed when reflux is a problem. Return it to flat for ordinary sleep.
